What was originally intended as a documentary about the hair-raising working conditions of signpost men finally turns out to be a chronicle of a day-long strike. And thus serves as a valuable lesson: what would our lives be like without all of those splendid direction signs and traffic regulations! Incidentally, the director places a great deal of importance on the fact that all of the signs shown in the film actually exist.
